Duo kissed Hilde softly on the cheek and left the room. By the time she woke up, he
was gone.
I didn't hear you leave, I wonder how am I still here.
"Duo?" Hilde didn't get up, realizing that Duo had walked out on her.
And I don't wanna move a thing, it might change my memory.
"Damn it, Duo. I can't help it if I love you. Why do you always leave?"

Hilde forced herself to get up and get dressed. Out of habit she wandered into the
kitchen,
but found she had no appetite. She picked up the phone and started dialing Relena's
number, but
turned the phone off instead. She wanted to tell someone about last night, but not just
yet. It was as
if saying it out loud would make it just a dream.
I don't wanna call my friends. They might wake me from this dream.
Hilde ran back to her room and jumped into bed, closing her eyes and pulling the covers
over her head.
And I can't leave this bed, and risk forgetting all that's been.
The night before had been so incredible, and every moment played over and over in
Hilde's mind. She
never wanted to forget it.

The apartment door opened. Hilde held her breath, hardly daring to hope. She heard
footsteps come down
the hall and into her room. She felt Duo's weight beside her on the bed, and only then did
she lift her head from
under the covers. She saw Duo smiling down at her, and burst into tears of relief. Duo's
face instantly became
concerned.
"What's wrong? Did you think I left you for good?"
Hilde nodded silently and stared at the bed's wrinkled quilt. Duo put his finger under her
chin, lifting her face so
he could look her in the eye.
"I promise I'll never leave you again. I only went to pick something up." Duo reached
into his jacket pocket and
pulled out a sparkling diamond ring.
"Hilde, will you be my wife?"
