Things had never been so strange before. She still didn't know how to react, how to deal with being near him, yet not being with him. And to make matters worse, they were both invited to Quatre's estate for a party this evening. 'Can I be around him without wanting him?' she wondered.

She entered the ballroom and heads turned her way. She was only 21, young and beautiful, with no strings attached. Many men tried to approach her, but by her cool manner they could tell she wasn't in the mood for flirting. She said Hello to Quatre and spotted Duo and Hilde, who had brought their 6 year old daughter Kylie along. She found a seat in a quiet corner and sat down, watching the colorfully dressed people and catching snatches of conversation. She was so intent on forgetting that she was in the same room as him, that she didn't hear him come up behind her. He lay a hand on her shoulder and when she looked up he flashed her one of his rare and beautiful smiles.
"Hello, Relena."
"Heero..."
oh, you creep up like the clouds, you set my soul at ease. Then you let your love abound, and bring me to my knees.
Heero pulled her to her feet and swept her onto the dance floor. A waltz was playing and it was so much like the first time they had ever danced that Relena had a hard to breathing. Then she remembered why they had split up and she pulled away angrily.
"You're here with that...woman aren't you?" she spat out.
A stunned look crossed his face, then he regained his composure.
"She died, Relena." emotion choked his voice, "She died giving birth to our daughter."
Relena's hand flew to her mouth, how could she have said such an ugly thing without knowing? "I'm so sorry!" She turned and fled from the ballroom and up the stairs to the guest room that Quatre let her use whenever she wanted. They were still friends, despite their own soured love. Relena threw herself on the bed and wept. She cried for everything and everyone in this damned world and when she couldn't cry anymore, she fell asleep.
Oh it's evil babe. The way you let your grace enrapture me. When well you know I'd be a fool to ever let that dirty game recapture me. You made me a shadow boxer baby. I wanna be ready for what you do. Cause I been, swinging all around, and I don't know when you're gonna make your move.
She woke to see Heero sitting on the edge of the bed, staring intently at her. She smiled cautiously.
"Heero, why are you here?"
"Relena, I still love you. I always have and I always will. Please, is there another chance for us?"
Relena didn't answer, instead she kissed him and pulled him onto the bed with her.
oh your gaze is dangerous. If I let you get too close you'll set your spell on me.
Sunlight filtered in through the window, hitting Relena directly in the face. She sat up and untangled herself from Heero. She couldn't believe that she had slept with him...she had told herself she had no more feelings for him. She was so confused as to what she wanted and who she loved. Climbing out of bed, she raced to the spacious bathroom and turned on the shower. Stepping under the spray, she began to cry. She crumpled to the floor, sitting under the never-ending stream of water.
So darlin' I just wanna say, just in case I don't come through, I was onto you. Every play, I just wanted you...
